ABOUT SUE SHEPHERD

My name is Sue Shepherd - I live in Whangarei, New Zealand. My husband and I are dairy farmers. We milk 500 cows on our property. We have four adult children and eleven grandchildren

I have been a passionate photographer for many years. I love photographing children, landscapes, people, and sport - particularly hockey. Over recent years my husband and I have been very fortunate to travel extensively - we have visited South America, Europe, USA, Australia, Hawaii, Spain, Turkey, Namibia, South Africa, and Uganda thus providing many photographic opportunities.

I have attended photography courses run by Jackie Ranken and Mike Langford, Andre Gallant, Peter Eastway and Peter Hewitt.

In 2015 I went to Iceland with Peter Eastway, Christian Fletcher, and Tony Hewitt. It was a very special trip. These three top Australian photographers are excellent tutors, and I learnt much about my camera and how to use Photoshop at another level.

I have also photographed many community events and worked with several writers – Hospice, Opera North, Prosper Northland, Riding for Disabled, RSA, Hockey Northland and Hockey New Zealand.

The photographic equipment I currently have is a 1DX Canon camera plus my four favourite lens - the Canon 100mm-400mm, 24mm-70mm, 16mm-35mm and the 70mm-200mm. I have a 5D Mark 4 Canon camera as a backup camera. I work with Photoshop CC 2018 and Lightroom Classic CC. I have just been learning InDesign for compiling books. I use blurb.com a lot as well for bookmaking.
