A place of connection

Te Hononga in Kawakawa is a place of connection, union and bond. Completed in late 2020 after more than a decade of community planning, it brings together the library, council service centre, gallery, workshop spaces and visitor facilities within its striking rammed earth walls.

Over 18 months, I photographed every stage of construction, recording the local craftsmanship, the people involved and the community spirit that brought the project to life.

Creating the book

Te Hononga is my first book designed using Adobe InDesign, which I taught myself with guidance from my mentor, Evan Morgan. It was printed by Calders Design and Print in Whangārei. I'm delighted with the colour and print quality, and grateful for their support. It was wonderful to work with a local company.

My other books

My other books span family histories, travel adventures and community projects, including Hockey Northland Heroes. I have also created books through Snapfish.
